Thanks to Quail Ridge Books for sponsoring author L.M. Elliott's recent visit to our school! She spoke to some 7th and 8th grade students about the importance of using primary sources for research and the specific steps of the book writing process. Also, Ms. Elliott shared details about her latest work--Hamilton and Peggy! A Revolutionary Friendship--which focuses on Alexander Hamilton's sister-in-law Peggy Schuyler Van Rensselaer.

Parents--Does Your Child Have a Lost Media Center Book?

Picture
On May 23, we ask that all students turn in all but one of their media center books. Students may keep one book at a time until June 1, when all books are due. Please start helping your student locate those overdue books.

Every week, students receive an email with a list of their overdue books. We don't charge any fines for overdue books but, if a book can't be located, it must be paid for by the end of the school year. Your student can bring a check or cash (exact change) to the media center, or you can pay for the book through the WCPSS Online Payments feature. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Strong School Libraries Build Strong Students

Picture
School libraries are great places to find a good book, but they are much more than that. That is why, in North Carolina, each school media center is staffed with a certified school librarian. Here at Mills Park Middle, as the largest middle school in North Carolina, we're fortunate enough to have two teacher librarians. Read more...
